Daily budgets vs. pacing

Setting a daily budget is the easy part — total budget divided by campaign length. Staying on pace once the campaign is live is the part that actually needs tracking, since ad platforms rarely spend perfectly evenly day to day.

A campaign that's overspending will run out of budget before the flight ends; one that's underspending will leave money — and impressions — on the table.

How to use this tool

1Use Daily Budget to get your starting per-day spend from a total budget and campaign length.
2Switch to Pacing Check partway through the campaign.
3Enter days elapsed and what you've actually spent so far.
4Check the verdict, and use the suggested remaining daily budget to course-correct.

Reading the pacing verdict

  • On pace — within 10% of where spend should be at this point in the flight
  • Overspending — more than 10% ahead of expected; you'll exhaust budget early unless you throttle
  • Underspending — more than 10% behind; the suggested daily figure shows what it takes to catch up

FAQ

Why isn't my actual daily spend matching the platform's set daily budget?
Most ad platforms allow daily spend to fluctuate up to roughly double the set daily budget on any given day, evening out over the billing cycle — so day-to-day variance is normal.
What should I do if a campaign is overspending?
Lower the daily budget or bid, or tighten targeting. Check whether a recent change — a bid adjustment, new audience, or seasonal demand spike — coincides with the shift.
Is being slightly under pace always bad?
Not necessarily — it can mean the platform simply couldn't find enough qualified impressions to spend the full budget. Worth checking auction/impression share before assuming it's fixable.
Does this tool store the numbers I enter?
