What this tool does

Converts between units of length, weight, volume, and temperature — useful for recipe conversions, DIY and construction measurements, international product specs, travel, or just checking what a Celsius temperature feels like in Fahrenheit.

Every conversion is calculated instantly in your browser as you type.

How to use this tool

1Pick a category — Length, Weight, Volume, or Temperature.
2Choose the unit you're converting from and the unit you want.
3Type a value; the result updates as you type.
4Use the swap button to flip the direction without re-selecting the units.

How the conversions work

For length, weight, and volume, every unit has a fixed ratio to a base unit (metres, grams, litres). The tool converts your value into the base unit, then out to the target unit — so the result is exact to the published conversion factors. Some factors are exact by definition (1 inch = 2.54cm); others are rounded (1 pound ≈ 453.592g).

Temperature is different — the scales don't share a zero point, so you can't just multiply. Celsius to Fahrenheit is (°C × 9/5) + 32; the tool converts through Celsius as its base.

Results are shown to six decimal places. Volume units here are US customary — a US gallon (3.785 L) is smaller than a UK imperial gallon (4.546 L), and US and imperial pints, quarts, and fluid ounces all differ.

FAQ

Are the gallons, pints, and fluid ounces US or UK?
US customary. If a recipe or spec is from the UK, Australia, or Canada, the imperial equivalents are noticeably larger — convert with imperial factors instead.
Why is my result slightly different from another converter?
Rounding. Different tools round the conversion factors or the final answer at different points. Over a big conversion, those tiny differences add up to a fraction of a percent.
Why can't I convert temperature by just multiplying?
Because 0°C isn't 0°F — the scales are offset as well as differently spaced. That's why the formula adds or subtracts 32 as well as scaling by 9/5.
How many decimal places does it show?
Up to six, with trailing zeros trimmed. For most practical uses two or three is plenty — round the displayed result yourself.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. All conversions run locally in your browser.
